Episode 5: The Eternal Coven

The heroes board the Mooncopter, with Hank McCoy in tow, and head for Calgary.  Several hours later, they land in a small airport outside the city and stash the 'copter in a large hangar secured by one of Frenchie's contacts.  They head into town and meet Dr. Twoyoungmen at his office at the health clinic.

He tells them he had several rounds of patients to see, so he had to come back into town, but they can go up to the cabin because his daughter, Liz, is already there.  He will join back up with them later, on the weekend.

They briefly explain to him what they have experienced so far, and he ays he will consider what he can contribute to their investigations and speak to them later that day.  He lends them his Jeep, and they make the hour long drive to a campground at the base of the mountains.  From there, they begin their journey on foot into the forest.

As they travel on foot over the trail that leads to the Twoyoungmen cabin, they are ambushed by a seven foot tall red-and-steel cybernetic monstrosity who demands that they hand over "the Russian girl."

Someone, or something, put this creature on their trail, but before they could learn anything more, battle is joined.  The heroes resist Omega Red's death spores, and Sabanion uses his spin attack to get in close enough to encircle their foe in his tail and shoot him a half-mile out into the woods, quickly ending the battle.

They quickly move on to get to the cabin before Omega Red can recover, and Fenris feels the magical aura getting stronger.  When they arrive, they are greeted by Elizabeth Twoyoungmen, who is not entirely pleased to see them.  Fenris realized the aura is coming from her, but does not have the opportunity to adress it with her, as she immediately begins berating him.  As they bicker amongst themselves, Omega Red bursts in through the back, wrapping Liz in his carbonadium coils, and draining some of her lifeforce.

Battle is rejoined, as Sabanion once again utilizes his spin attack to get ahold of Omega Red and launch him through the side of the cabin, taking out the wall and the fireplace in one massive attack.  Having been foiled a second time, Omega Red stalks off into the wilderness, and the heroes elect not to follow.

Fenris detects that the magical aura around his onetime girlfriend has grown slightly stronger, but is reluctant to get into it with her given the grudge she bears, and leaves the talking to the others.  They need to convice her to coopoerate with them, but she is angry and belligerent, given her grudge against Fenris, as well as all the damage that was done.  Before things escalate, all the heroes but Beast head for the hills, literally.

They stake out the property from a nearby ridge while Beast repairs the wall and fireplace of the cabin.  After keeping night watch, the others go back to the cabin the next morning and try to talk to Liz again.  Crucible reasons with Liz and tells her that the lives of two other young women are at stake, as well as her own, and the heroes need her help and cooperation to figure out what is going on.  She reluctantly agrees, and accompanies them back to the city to meet with her father.

At the Twoyoungmen residence in Calgary, the assembled heroes discuss Liz's magic aura, and Dr. Twoyoungmen tells them about the legend of the eternal coven.  The coven is made up of three 'witches,' who at different times in history have been called oracles, fates or even norns.  It appears that Ilyana Rasputin, Wanda Strucker and Elizabeth Twoyoungmen are such a coven.  He is concerned that the girls are all mutants, all from different parts of the world and all otherwise unrelated to each other.  He says he will contact doctor strange to further discuss, but will personally keep Liz under his watch until he can do so.

With that, the heroes return to the hangar and head back to NYC, once again with more questions than answers...
